It first names the present moment, place, and lineage, and then declares the intention — effectively the same instruction a navigation system gives: from this position, toward this destination. A yagya is a traditional Vedic fire ceremony in which trained pundits combine precise recitation, physical offerings, and formal procedure in support of a stated intention. It is the strongest instrument in the Vedic remedial toolkit and is traditionally reserved for significant intentions and life passages. Jyotish is the astrological science of the Vedic tradition. It maps a person's karmic blueprint through the birth chart (kundli) — the positions of the nine classical grahas at the moment and place of birth — and reads timing through dasha periods and transits, always in hierarchy. Its purpose here is navigational: locating your true Point A so your journey forward is real.

Western astrology uses the tropical zodiac, anchored to the seasons; Jyotish uses the sidereal zodiac, anchored to the fixed stars — currently offset by roughly 24 degrees (the ayanamsa). A mid-June Sun sits in Gemini tropically but in Taurus sidereally. Jyotish also uses only the seven classical planets plus Rahu and Ketu, the lunar nodes — no outer planets — and reads timing through the Vimshottari dasha system. Because software reading a chart in isolation gets things wrong in ways that matter. A placement that looks difficult can be cancelled elsewhere in the chart; a frightening transit can be softened by the ruling dasha; a gemstone that "strengthens" the wrong planet can amplify exactly what you wanted quiet. Muhurta is the Vedic discipline of choosing the most auspicious moment for an undertaking — a wedding, a signing, a founding. It weighs the day's tithi, nakshatra, and yoga together with your own chart and current dasha, then selects the window mathematically. For legal, tax, or financial decisions, muhurta is offered alongside professional counsel, never in place of it.

Ashtakoota (guna milan) is the classical compatibility framework comparing two charts across eight kootas — Varna, Vashya, Tara, Yoni, Graha Maitri, Gana, Bhakoot, and Nadi — for a maximum of 36 gunas. The score is a starting framework, not a verdict: classical Jyotish includes specific cancellations that can neutralize a low koota, which is why full matching is a pundit's assessment.

Rectification (Nashta Jatakam) recovers an accurate birth time when it is unknown or uncertain, by testing candidate charts against the timing of major life events. Because divisional charts shift every few minutes, no algorithm can resolve this — it requires a pundit's forensic interview. If your birth time is uncertain, rectification is the necessary first step to any valid reading.

Because prescription requires judgment about the whole person, and rigidity here can do harm. The clearest case is gemstones: software suggests a stone for the weakest planet, but if that planet rules a difficult house, strengthening it amplifies obstacles rather than removing them — only a pundit's functional analysis catches this. Mantras must be matched to your phonetic ability and your actual day; a yagya's power lives in its tailored sankalpa and its chosen muhurta; lifestyle remedies must fit your real bandwidth. The algorithm captures the geometry of the heavens flawlessly — that is diagnosis. Prescription is human work, and at VedicGPS it always will be.
